Route Plan

Over 100 Baton Bearers will be carrying the Baton as a symbol of hope – whether that’s in memory of someone lost to suicide, suicide survivors carrying the baton for themselves or as suicide prevention advocates.

The relay walk will go through Torquay, Paignton and Brixham. Members of the public are encouraged to support our Baton Bearers by standing along the route (areas identified below) and cheering them on along this emotional journey

The Baton will start at the Torquay Hope Hub (which will have a live tour screen, entertainment, refreshments and wellbeing related stalls) in Princess Gardens and will travel through Paignton and Brixham.
There will be wellbeing events along the route and the tour will culminate in the BIG Show of Hope at the Riviera International Centre.

Torquay Hope Hub
Starting location for the Baton of Hope walking relay (Opening Ceremony - 7:45am, Baton leaves - 8am) – spectators and supporter’s welcome. Main daytime wellbeing event including live tour screen, stalls, activities, refreshments and entertainment (All day until 6:30pm).

Lower Union Street (pedestrianised area)
Torquay town centre location for spectating and supporting the Baton as it passes through at 9am.

Paignton Route
Paignton Green
Scenic location to support the Baton of Hope on Paignton seafront at 1pm. We will also be holding a free outdoor yoga session on the Green (12:30pm).
Youngs Park
We have a LGBTQ+ take over of the Park at Goodrington form 1pm - 3pm. This coasting spot is a great place to support and spectate as the Baton passes by at 1.45pm.
Victoria Street
Ideal location to spectate and support the Baton of Hope as it moves through Paignton town centre at 2.45pm.
Dart Steam Train
Wave the baton off as it leaves by steam train in the direction of Brixham at 3.15pm.

Brixham Hope Hub
Old Fish Market between 4:00pm and 6:00pm. Music, wellbeing stalls and art activities. Baton expected at 5.30pm.

Berry Head
Free outdoor yoga session 4:00pm - 5:00pm. Meet the Coastguard, the Coast & Countryside Trust and the Samaritans. Grab a cuppa!

Fore Street
Brixham town centre location for spectating and supporting the Baton as it passes through at 5.15pm.
RNLI Crossing
Wave the baton off as it leaves by lifeboat, 6pm, back to the Torquay Hope Hub in Princess Gardens.
