About Torbay Baton of Hope

What is the Baton of Hope Torbay
Torbay has been selected to host the South West leg of the UK’s biggest suicide prevention initiative.

The Baton of Hope is a charity event aimed at promoting better mental health across The Bay, raising awareness of the impact of suicide, and spreading a message of hope. The event, scheduled for Tuesday 30th September 2025, involves around 100 baton bearers participating in a relay walk across Torquay, Paignton, and Brixham, with various wellbeing events being held along the route, culminating in the BIG show of Hope!

Why is this important?
Sadly, an estimated 2,700 local residents are impacted by suicide each year in Torbay. This is significantly higher than the national average, and we want to do as much as we can to bring that figure down.
We aim to #BeingHope2TheBay with a focus on establishing a legacy for future generations.

The more people who talk openly about mental health and suicide, spot the signs, ask the right questions, and listen without judgement, the bigger a difference we can make
